Trying to explain a work-flow idea to someone I ran across www.gliffy.com. Not being a designer myself I was hesitant to try my hand at creating a diagram from scratch (even in PowerPoint/Keynote) and plus, to me those mediums are getting a little played out…I wanted something I could move around, adjust, then snag an image and put into my presentation. Gliffy fits the bill.

It was very simple to set up – simply give them an email and a password and you’re good to go. You can then create a new document and start diagraming. There were some nice features in terms of color filling, arrows and such, but the thing that really got me was how EASY it was to use. I was able to change/adjust as I ran into issues. Saving it as a PNG was simple and then I was able to import that file straight into my presentation.

This is a very useful tool if  you need a quick way to wire-frame a design or sketch out a process or figure out a site-map. I didn’t go beyond the free version, but from what I understand if you want to pay the premium pricing there is more access to retaining your brand, coordination between multiple users and more.
