…and you’ll hit it every time, so the adage goes.

This goes for online marketing as well.

You cannot plan for a viral video, but you can put a great video together and make sure it is linked up to every distribution channel at your disposal (Facebook page, YouTube channel, blog, Twitter feed, Pinterest, etc.)

There is no guarantee that your email campaign will result in record sales, but put the plan in place with that expectation rather than just quickly blasting something out.

A good looking website is easier than ever to create these days, but is there a plan behind WHY you have a good looking website? What are you trying to accomplish by spending that money to make it look so amazing? Have you considered mobile implications? Do you have a clear path you are trying to send your visitors to capture potential leads?

Why are you launching your Facebook page or Pinterest wall? What is the plan behind your social efforts?

Hint: there is not a perfect plan “out there”. But please have one. Fail with your plan and build a new one. If your plan works, revise it to make it even more successful. But please plan.
